White Waves Detail
With white yarn. Ch 50, fasten off. Thread one of the ends with a needle and insert into round 2 stitches of the hat, feeding it up through one stitch, skipping one stitch and then feeding it down through the next stitch to form waves. Continue all the way around. Tie underneath to secure.

Whale Tail (Make 2) with lighter blue yarn
Rnd 1: MC, work 8 HDC. Sl st to first st. (8)
Rnd 2: 2 HDC in each st around, sl st to first st (16)
Rnd 3: 1 HDC in first st, 2 HDC in next st; repeat around. Sl st to first st. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Assembly
Firstly, fold each tail circle in half with arches facing inward. Sew the first 8 stitches together on the first folded circle. On the second folded circle, sew from the 8th stitch all the way up to the tip.

Before moving to the next step lightly stuff the wedge sections—do not overfill.
Secondly, Sew the front sides together, then sew the back sides together. This creates an opening and forms one plump whale tail piece.

Finally, attach the whale tail to the center of the hat in the white section. I did this by tying the leftover yarn tails together then weaving in the ends. Your Whale Tail Hat is complete.
